Airway Evaluation at Zest
Helping You or Your Child Breathe, Sleep, and Live Better
Many families come to us after months, or even years, of wondering why their child snores, wakes unrested, grinds their teeth, or breathes with their mouth open. Others are adults who have never found clear answers for fatigue, headaches, or poor sleep. What many don’t realize is that breathing, tongue posture, facial growth, and jaw development are interconnected.
You are not “overthinking it.” In the long term, poor sleep can severely impact overall health and well-being.
Signs Parents Commonly Observe:
- Snoring or noisy breathing
- Sleeping with mouth open
- Grinding teeth
- Bedwetting beyond a typical age
- Hard time waking up or staying focused
- Gagging/choking while eating
- Frequent congestion
None of these signs guarantee a problem, but they are worth exploring further. Awareness gives families options.
What to Expect at Zest
Every evaluation starts with your story. You tell us what you’ve noticed; we listen to what matters to your family. We review sleep and medical history, then use imaging, photos, digital scans, and a detailed exam to understand airway space and growth patterns. We don’t rush treatment- we guide you only toward solutions that support you or your child’s well-being.
Every plan looks different, but recommendations may include:
- Exercises to improve nasal breathing and tongue posture
- Collaboration with ENT for tonsil/adenoid evaluation
- Tongue-tie release only when it impacts function
- Sleep studies for evaluating nighttime symptoms
- Maxillary expansion for high arched, narrow palates
Because this should be a team-based approach, we help you or your child connect with the specialists who play an important role in care.
Our Philosophy
We do not claim orthodontics cures sleep apnea or replaces medical care. What we do believe is that families deserve clarity when it comes to breathing, sleep, and growth. Our role is to inform and empower you with options so you can move forward confidently. Contact our practice at (843) 738-6947 to have a thorough evaluation with Dr. Ply.
